All Good Vibes Tour Underway

DSO began a month-long tour crisscrossing the Eastern half of the US July 10 at Penn's Peak before performing an amazing late-night show at the All Good Festival last weekend. A rare acoustic show at the Kent Stage last week was another tour highlight. The All Good Festival included a rare Drum Workshop/Clinic with DSO drummers Dino English & Rob Koritz that allowed for cooperative drumming and interaction.
DSO's tour continues this week to a headlining slot at the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Northern Minnesota before holding court with a two-night stand at the Park West in Chicago. DSO then rapidly makes their way to the East Coast for a series of dates including the Gathering of the Vibes and The Mighty High Festival.
DSO Wraps Up Road to the Roo Tour with Two Shows at Bonnaroo

The end of the last tour brought DSO to Bonnaroo and were greeted by thousands of fans under 'The Other Tent' for their Late Night slot on Thursday night. Highlights include a highly energetic and crowd-participated Tennessee Jed, and a mega-sandwich to end the show: I Need a Miracle> Shakedown St> Drums> Space> Alligator> Attics of My Life> Not Fade Away (reprise). DSO rocked Bonnaroo's Sonic Stage on Friday afternoon for a Jerry Garcia Band-themed set to end the Road to the Roo Tour.
Bassist Mike Gordon Joins DSO On Stage

Just after midnight Monday night, former Phish bassist Mike Gordon celebrated his birthday (June 3) by joining Dark Star Orchestra on stage for "US Blues" with at Higher Ground in Burlington, Vermont. Gordon replaced DSO bassist Kevin Rosen and proceeded to anchor the lauded tribute band with his signature low end.
DSO Releases DVD of 5/8/07 Performance

DSO rolled into Ithaca, NY on May 8, 2007 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 5/8/77, recreating one of the most legendary Grateful Dead shows of all time. The spirited show was caught on video by iClips.net and the multi-camera shot DVD was mastered by Rob Eaton is being released on the anniversary of this show. The DVD is now available as well as the 3 CD set of the same show.
DSO Included in New Book About Tribute Bands

A newly nationally-released book, called Like A Rolling Stone, has just been released and includes an entire chapter on the Dark Star Orchestra. Like A Rolling Stone is a superbly reported, affectionately told, hilarious account of life of a variety of tribute bands.

Dark Star Orchestra to Appear at the All Good Festival

DSO will perform at the 11th Annual All Good Festival at Marvin's Mountaintop in Masontown, West Virginia July 11 - 13. Other performers include Phil Lesh & Friends, Widespread Panic, Gov't Mule, Mike Gordon, Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Soul Stew Revival, Michael Franti & Spearhead and dozens of additional bands with no overlapping sets. DSO will perform at two more summer festivals, the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota July 23 - 26 and the Gathering of the Vibes July 31 - Aug 3. Tickets for both events are available now from their respective websites. The festival banners to the left provide detail of other performers on the lineup and the 10KLF banner has information on how to receive a discounted ticket by being a DSO fan.
Keyboard Legend Ike Stubblefield Sits In With DSO

On Saturday Dark Star Orchestra headlined Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse. During their performance, DSO invited out legendary soul keyboardist, and Atlanta-transplant, Ike Stubblefield, who has worked with such luminaries as Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, Ike & Tina Turner, Curtis Mayfield, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart, for versions of “King Bee” and “That’s What Love Will Make You Do.”
Former GD Soundman Dan Healy to Mix DSO for Remainder of Tour

Grateful Dead sound engineer Dan Healy will be joining Dark Star Orchestra to mix the band’s sound beginning Friday, February 16 at DSO’s House of Blues Cleveland performance through the final tour stop in Langerado. Dan Healy mixed the Grateful Dead from 1968 through 1994 and has done sound for DSO on previous occasions, notably in October 2007 when Bob Weir joined DSO for a few sets at The Fillmore. Veteran DSO sound engineer Cameron Blietz needs to leave the road to heal chronic back pain, but will return to the mixing board for future tours.
