Spring Tour; Jubilee VIPs Almost Gone
Posted on: May 10, 2012
Dark Star Orchestra got the East portion of Spring Tour rollin’ down the track in fine, elective style in Burlington on Monday night – including a psychedelic “Strawberry Fields” jam in the second set – before sliding into the ’90s on Night Two and visiting the ’70s in a smokin’ night in New Hampshire. The journey continues this weekend in New Haven, Huntington, NY, and Oneanta before Terrapin Nation hits Teaneck, followed by a swing through Virginia leading back to Tuxedo, NY for next week’s Mighty High Festival. Then our six guys and a girl hit the Northeast and New England hard, making sure to visit all their friends in the region. Pick up your tickets here.
Of course, all this ultimately leads to the first Dark Star Jubilee, August 31-September 2 at Legend Valley in Thornville, OH. It’s gonna be a high time, with two revolving stages featuring three nights of DSO, plus visits from Mickey Hart Band and 7 Walkers with Bill Kreutzmann, plus Keller Williams, Jorma Kaukonen, The Infamous Stringdusters, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Donna The Buffalo many, many more. Early bird passes are going fast, so the time to save is limited. All the information, plus the deal on Rising Star VIP Experience and vending news is all right here. We’ll meet you at The Jubilee!

Tarlowe Benefit Closing In
Posted on: April 25, 2012
The benefit show that Rob Eaton put together to pay tribute to his bandmate from his early-career Border Legion, lead guitarist Dave Tarlowe, is coming up Saturday, May 5 at Mexicali Live. Tarlowe passed away last year as a result of a fierce bout with cancer.
To pay tribute to his friend, Eaton has assembled an all-star lineup that includes Border Legion bandmates Tom "Skip" Vangelas (bass) and Jimmy Monia (drums), as well as DSO's Jeff Mattson, Rob Barraco and Lisa Mackey. Having that crew on board guarantees the night will be a celebration of Tarlowe's life, featuring a stellar night of Border Legion music.
Net proceeds will be donated to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Foundation, a not for profit organization that helped Dave and many others pass on with peace. For tickets, go here.

With some of the festivals already announced, it’s time to tell you about Dark Star Orchestra’s Meet Me At The Jubilee Summer Tour 2012, an over two-month trek that guarantees you’ll want to hit the road and won’t be back ‘til the fall. Starting with a Colorado weekend to take June into July – including night one in Denver, followed by a return to The Mish in Bellvue – the DSO bus will be rolling across the country making stops in Apple Valley, MN, Chicago, Harrisburg and Dewey Beach, winding up on Labor Day Weekend in Thornville, OH at Legend Valley for the very first Dark Star Jubilee. The Jubilee may be our last festival of the summer, but it sure won’t be the first, as our six guys and a girl will make stops at the Mighty High Mountain Fest, Philly’s Jam On The River, GOTV, All Good Music Festival, and The Allman Brothers Band’s Peach Music Festival in Scranton.
Tickets for most of these shows are on sale now via DSOtix. To meet us on the run until that Jubilee do come, check out the full tour listing here. You'll also want to watch that page for a Steamboat Springs venue change, giving us more time to play!

Eaton Pays Tribute To Tarlowe
Posted on: March 15, 2012
DSO rhythm guitarist Rob Eaton started his career playing in the northern New Jersey band Border Legion, along with – among others – lead guitarist Dave Tarlowe, who passed away last year as a result of a fierce bout with cancer. As a tribute to his fallen friend, Eaton has called on former Border Legion band mates Tom "Skip" Vangelas (bass) and Jimmy Monia (drums), as well as his current cohorts Jeff Mattson, Rob Barraco and Lisa Mackey, to perform a benefit on Saturday, May 5 at Mexicali Live, the successor to Mexicali Blues Café – a club that was synonymous with Border Legion – in Teaneck, NJ. All net proceeds from this event will be donated to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Foundation, a not for profit organization that helped Dave and many others pass on with peace. So come join some of Dave's former band mates plus some special friends as they celebrate his life with a night of Border Legion music. You can find tickets and all the info here.
