Cosmic Energy Kicks Off 2012
Posted on: January 03, 2012
DSO closed out 2011 and kicked off the New Year with its annual Cosmic New Years run, a series of four shows that blew the roofs off of three venues packed with near capacity crowds.
Pulling into Montclair, NJ and the Wellmont Theatre for the last two days of the year, the band followed 12/30’s acoustic/electric/electric elective with a New Year’s Eve show that reached across GD eras, with the first set coming from the ‘60s (Vallejo, CA 2/21/69) and the second from the ‘70s (Santa Barbara, 6/4/78, Set 1), finally ringing in 2012 with the second set from 7/18/89’s Alpine Valley show. With too many highlights to mention, one that merits citing is DSO taking a minute to ring in the New Year between songs, launching 2012 with a smokin’ ‘80s-style “Eyes Of The World” that still has the audience spinning.
As the six guys and a girl take a month to patch their bones, rest assured everyone in Dark Star Orchestra wishes every fan who makes the tours possible a happy and prosperous 2012, and they can’t wait to see you all back on the road!

Last night at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C., Minnesota Senator Al Franken introduced Dark Star Orchestra - using some of his trademark hilarious banter that brought the original Grateful Dead on stage in 1980 during their Radio City Music Hall run.

14 Years and Counting
Posted on: November 11, 2011
On a dark and stormy night 14 years ago we played our first show as Dark Star Orchestra. As we prepare to celebrate our 2,000th show in a few days we are taking a moment to reflect on what a long strange trip its been while gazing at the open highway that lay in front of us. We have been on what seems to be one continuous wild and adventurous tour since Martyr's in 1997. That road has carried us from Japan to Amsterdam and to all but two states in the union. Along the way we have been fortunate to receive immense love and support from our fans. We are proud to share the music with all of you and hope to keep the wheels rolling for many years to come....thank you so much for being a part of it!
Cheers!
